Curriculum vitae

Maria was born and raised in Athens. She graduated from the Department of Psychology - Panteion University of Athens and has completed her training in the systemic dialectical approach and therapy at the Athenian Institute of Anthropos (AKMA).

Initially, she worked in the "Department of Mental Health and Social Welfare" of the Bank of Greece, providing support to personnel and their families. After that, she worked for many years in the field of child protection, in prevention and treatment of incidents of violence and missing minors ("The Smile of the Child"), providing support to children and their families, in collaboration with the competent authorities and services. Also, from her role as the Head of Volunteers Department, she organized experiential groups of empowerment and supervision of the volunteers who were active in the field of child abuse.

Since 2018, she works in the Sector of Adoption and Deinstitutionalization (SOS Children's Villages of Greece - Social Welfare Center of Attica Region), participating in the evaluation of the prospective foster/ adoptive parents and the preparation of children for the next step of family rehabilitation, providing counseling and follow-up support to the new family systems. Also she is a member of the institution's interdisciplinary team, which oversees the fostering/adoption processes.

In 2016, In collaboration with AKMA, she participated as a co-instructor in the teaching of the Postgraduate School Psychology of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, in the course "Psychological and Psychotherapeutic interventions in the school community", as well as a trainer in an experiential workshop at the 149th Primary School of Petralona on "Strengthening Relationships in the School Community". In 2018 she supervised the "Offered Team for Personal Development " - A.K.M.A., which was addressed to vulnerable people with financial difficulties. She has also volunteered in the field of addictions and mental health.

Since 2017, she has been a partner of AKMA, coordinating experiential Empowerement  and Communication groups for  Adolescents.

In recent years she has been working privately as a psychotherapist with adults and teenagers, couples and groups.
