Curriculum vitae

Dr Kalliopi Konstantopoulou was born in Patras, Greece. In 2008 she graduated from the Medical School of University of Patras, Greece. In 2011, she completed a postgraduate specialisation diploma in Mental Health Promotion (MSc), of the Medical School in University of Athens, Greece. She worked as a core trainee in Internal Medicine in General Hospital of Kalavryta, Achaia, Greece and then as a senior house officer in adult inpatient psychiatry in a private hospital in Athens.


In 2013, she joined the Wakefield- Leeds core training scheme as a core trainee in Psychiatry. During her core training she rotated in several sub-specialties of psychiatry including Adult psychiatry (inpatient and community), Old Age psychiatry, Eating Disorders, Medical psychotherapy and Child and Adolescent units. Following her successful completion of her exams, Dr Konstantopoulou became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatry and progressed into joining the higher training scheme in the speciality of Child and Adolescent psychiatry. In 2020, she completed her training and has been working as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in Leeds since.


Dr Konstantopoulou is a clinical supervisor of core trainees and a senior member of the East child and adolescent mental health team in Leeds. She is a member of the diagnostic panel of the Neurodevelopmental pathway of the team and the senior medic of the Learning Disability team. Dr Konstantopoulou has trained in the main diagnostic tools for Autism Spectrum Disorders and Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorders; Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale – 2 (ADOS-2), Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R) and QB test and is responsible for co-organising the continuous personal development of the clinicians of the neurodevelopmental pathway.


Dr Konstantopoulou has worked as a co-researcher within the ‘Born in Bradford’ research team. Part of her research work which has been published in BMJ-Open is looking at a systematic approach to school-based assessments for autism spectrum disorders to reduce inequalities. She has also developed a very strong interest in supporting core trainees passing their membership exams and has organised the Clinical Assessment of Skills and Competences (CASC) programme of University of Leeds for more than two years.


Since 2017, she has been an invited external speaker in post Graduate Programme (MSc) in Addictionology in school of Medicine at University of Athens, Greece and teaches the topic of Addictions in Children and Adolescents.


She has completed several audits and quality improvement projects and has joined conferences and training courses. She has also been a member of Balint groups throughout her training in the UK and she has recently joined the Hellenic Balint Society.
