Membership Categories

Regular members

The admission of new members is made by decision of the Board of Directors of the Society at the request of the person concerned, who must be a doctor of any specialty or psychologist and meet the following conditions:

(a) have a specialization in a kind of psychotherapy or psychoanalysis, as evidenced by a certificate from a recognized Greek or foreign society or other recognized Hellenic or foreign institution; and

(b) have completed the training as a Balint Group Leader, as evidenced by the relevant certificate issued by the Hellenic Balint Society or a similar recognized Society abroad.

Also, regular members of the society can become its candidate members after the completion of their training in the subject of the society.

Regular members of the society have the right to attend and participate at the General Meetings and have the right to vote and stand for election.


Candidate members

As candidate members of the Society can be accepted, upon their request to the Board of Directors. all:

    Physicians of all specialties and psychologists who wish to follow Balint Group Leader training and complete their training.
    Physicians of all specialties, psychologists and other persons of the social professions who, without fulfilling the conditions for joining the Society as regular members, wish to participate in its activities and events, be educated through the Balint groups, acquire or enrich knowledge in Psychosomatics, assist the company’s work and complete their education.
    Trainees wishing to certify their work to a Balint group and complete their education in related fields of other educational societies.
    Students wishing to participate in the activities and events of the Company and to complete their studies in the Society’s subject.

Candidate member are required to pay an annual subscription fee, have full membership rights and have the right to attend and speak at General Meetings without having the right to vote and to stand for election.

After completing their studies on the subject of the Society, the candidate members can become regular members of the Society upon their request.


Honorary Members

As honorary members are appointed by decision of the Board of Directors of the Society, personalities who have provided moral or material assistance or other excellent services for the promotion of the Society’s mission. Honorary members are not obliged to pay an annual subscription fee, have full membership rights and have the right to attend and The Hellenic Balint Company reserves the right to examine the complete application documents from the Board of Directors. The council meets three times a year to process applications submitted and checked at the office one month before the meeting. The dates of Board meetings can be requested by phone from the office.speak at General Meetings without having the right to vote and to stand for election.

Our ultimate goal is to support the training of Doctors in “Primary Psychosomatic Care”, which Balint Groups are an integral part of.
